Last week, I had a short conversation on LinkedIn with an entrepreneur, I wanted to get the entrepreneur's thoughts about working with developers. The entrepreneur told me that it was a "crap shoot" when finding developers. I did ask him to elaborate on the term "crap shoot" and what did that mean to him. The entrepreneur the said "The roll of the dice. Developers are always behind schedule and tough to deal with." As a Front-End developer that worked for a start-up, I had almost the same issues with entrepreneurs in the past. So, in this issue of the Startup Digest for Developers, I would like to direct you to this question.
Can Entrepreneurs and Developers Just Get Along?
Developers should always expand their knowledge. If you are a Front-End Developer, study on backend development or full stack development. If you are working as a WordPress designer study PHP, MySQL, build WordPress plugins and building themes from scratch. If you are a mobile developer and working with Android development in Xamarin Studio, consider studying Xcode and IOS. If you are working on an open source project, shared it with your colleges on GitHub or Bitbucket. Continue to hone your skills, and it will take you far.
How do I do that? There are more online resources than they are excuses not to do it. YouTube is one of the most used and a FREE resource for developers. Don't understand or stuck on some code LiveEdu.tv is a resource that you can interact and learn from others as they are coding in real time. If you don't know how to code and can't afford to go to an expensive boot camp, freeCodeCamp is your best bet.
Let me know how I am I doing. I would like to know what information is relevant to you. If it JavaScript MVC frameworks, Mobile development, or anything that I may have missed, send me a message and will get back to you. Some of you welcomed me, and some of you may want to consider unsubscribing. Either way, I am here to assist you on your way to become a better developer or software entrepreneur. Thank you for taking the time to read this week issue.
