Read about their talk, and watch a short clip, by clicking here. | | Mike Swift - Medium This was sent in by Mike, who is a reader of the digest. With the help of 3D Printing, he developed a prototype to help out his buddy get back into biking after an accident. I love reading about DIY projects like this because people underestimate how they could apply 3D Printing to their own life. You don't need to be a major 3D Printing geek, rather, you just need to know its capabilities. I hope you find this inspiring. | | Megan Logan - inverse.com Over the weekend, I took a trip down to our local movie theater to watch the highly rated (at least among kids) Kubo and the Two Strings. It's an EXCELLENT movie for kids (and adults) that's based on clay and stop motion. Once I got home, I decided to look up the studio that made it (LAIKA) and was pleasantly surprised to see that they used 3D Printing to build key components of the set.
Very neat. | | Unknown - Twitter This is quite entertaining. Made me chuckle. | | Megan Geuss - arstechnica.com General Electric announced that it would spend $1.4 billion (~£1 billion) to acquire two European 3D printing companies—Arcam AB from Sweden and SLM Solutions Group from Germany. It's in the Industrial sector, but still interesting. | | Filemon Schoffer - Techcrunch.com Decent explanation of various 3D Printing technologies available today. | | UF Health - YouTube This is an interesting case of Conjoined twins that were born connected at the heart and liver. Good news is that they were separated successfully, and if you watch the video, around 1:40, you'll see a 3D Printed model of the twins hearts. Interesting. | | TCT Magazine - tctmagazine.com Not huge news, but still interesting. When I was at CES 2016 earlier this year, I noticed that the Makerbot booth was nearly non-existent compared to the previous year - not to mention, after its acquisition, Makerbot has had a terrible reputation among 3D Printer owners for its numerous problems and poor quality hardware.
I wonder if this is an attempt to revive the brand. | | | You are receiving this email because you believe that the best startup articles and videos are made by active members of the startup community.
