| | 3D Printing | January 20, 2017 | Hey you!
As you read this email, I am in Las Vegas warming up to spending some time gambling. I am fairly new to gambling (this is my 5th time) but my favorite game so far is Roulette (even though it has one of the worst odds).
I am at about ~+$4k thus far (see my roulette log) -- and it's fun to drink and shoot the shit with a bunch or random people. I only have about $200 budgeted for my gambling though.
Anyway, I'll be in Vegas at a workshop run by my friend Johnny. He's one of the best guys in the world when it comes to relationships and it's always refreshing to go hang out with the dude.
What are you up to these days?
Ah, yes! We have a digest to get to ;)
Today, we'll be covering:
1.) Objects that change 2.) How rolls royce uses 3D Printing 3.) Google releasing a open source library 4.) Using PEI sheets for adhesion 5.) Mattel's executive changes 6.) 700HP 3D Printed Car 7.) Tourists 3D Printing landmarks 8.) Makerbot CEO resigning 9.) A Microsoft Acquisition
Phew.
I will see you at the same day, and same time next week my friend :)

"..He who desires but acts not, breeds pestilence.." - William Blake | Applications Are Now Open for Next Session of Techstars Accelerator Programs The next session of Techstars global accelerator programs kick off in July 2017: Alexa Accelerator, powered by Techstars, Chicago, IoT, Kansas City, LA, London, Mobility, NYC, Techstars Adelaide, Techstars Retail, in partnership with Target, and Techstars Atlanta, in partnership with Cox Enterprises. Interested in applying or know someone who is? Learn more or apply by April 9th. | | MIT - mit.edu What do you think? Does this have potential or is it some sensationalized nonsense? It is from MIT, so there must be some credibility behind it. | | Rolls Royce - rolls-royce.com How does Rolls Royce use 3D Printing in their manufacturing process? Here's a quick introduction. | | Google - github.com Google has published an open source compression library known as 'Draco' "to improve the storage and transmission of 3D graphics." The files enhance the compression of 3D data and subsequently encourage the growth of 3D related technology. Specifically Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR).
It's not directly 3D Printing related, but check it out. | | cshyde - cshyde.com A quick tip: If you are having adhesion issues when 3D Printing, PEI sheets are one of the best ways to solve that problem. Amazon is a bit expensive, so if you are looking for PEI sheets, try this source. It's a bit cheaper and already contains a adhesive side. | | Shan Li - latimes.com This is not DIRECTLY related to 3D Printing, but my guess is that it will have interesting implications later on. If you are not in the loop, Mattel was supposed to revive a 1950's toy called the Thingmaker and bring it back as a kids 3D Printer last year.
They obviously failed and did not deliver on their promise and mentioned that it's likely going to go to market THIS YEAR. I am going to take a stab in the dark and say this new CEO will have something to do with the Thingmaker launch.
Anyone wanna bet? :P | | Divergent3D - divergent3d.com This was one of the exhibits at CES this year. It's a fully 3D Printed (in Metal), 700HP Super Car. Looks interesting. | | Angelo Dangelo - angelodangelo.com Amusing. Apologies for the lack of english -- you might need to use Google Translate. But the visuals are fun. The guy essentially 3D Prints every landmark he visits. | | QZ - qz.com Am I surprised? OF COURSE NOT. | | TechCrunch - techcrunch.com Interesting acquisition. | | | You are receiving this email because you believe that the best startup articles and videos are made by active members of the startup community.
