3D Printing

February 17, 2017

Hey you.

How are ya? Hope you are doing alright.

I gained way too much weight from my Vegas debauchery. In fact, I am the heaviest I've ever been (200LB @ 5'8) -- So, I've been eating super clean and maintaining my Brazilian Jiu Jitsu habit lately.

At this rate, I should be back where I want to (~170LB) by end of March ... or April at the latest.

Other than that, things are going well over here in San Diego.

Ah yes! We have a digest :)

Today, we'll be covering:

1.) The new McDonald's straw
2.) 3D Printing an ultrasound
3.) Prototyping product ideas
4.) Recycling failed prints
5.) More makerbot layoffs
6.) Eagle eyes
7.) The future of Industrial 3D Printing

That's all for now.

By the way, almost all of the responses I've gotten from this digest have been dudes (which is great) -- but, it would certainly be cool to hear from any geek ladies out there. (About suggestions, criticisms, links etc.)

Until next time, my friend,
Dilanka

Andrew Dalton - engadget.com

Here we have a team of engineers using 3D Printing and their engineering know-how to re-engineer a straw so that there's a MUCH MORE EFFICIENT delivery mechanism for accelerating obesity. The best part is the acronym: STRAW -- short for "Suction Tube for Reverse Axial Withdrawal.

Poverty, hunger, homelessness, mental health? nah -- let's work on a straw.

[NEWS] - 3D Printed Eagle Eye

Beau Jackson - 3dprintingindustry.com

Not exactly "consumer 3D Printing" -- in fact, I am not sure if the "3D Printed" moniker even belongs here. In either case, this is still interesting.

[NEWS] - What's the Future of Industrial 3D Printing?

Vicki Holt - huffingtonpost.com

Not too shabby. I am personally involved in solving the "plug and play" problem mentioned in point #1. Only time will tell where this ship is going.
