Quote of the Week:
“Entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley have this kind of hubris about being able to lean into problems and move the world, and in a lot of technology scaling you can just do that. But this is a big industry, we are taking the approach that you want to show better and better every day, but we know that we’re not going to wake up one morning and realize that we’ve completely changed the hearts and minds of everybody”

3D Printing - Startup Digest - Candy, Recycling & 3D Printing Offices - May 27th - June 3rd

Startup Digest

3D Printing

May 27, 2016

Hey you!

Hope you are well!

In this week's digest, we cover: 3D Printing Gummy Candy, Recycling crappy prints, 3D Printing offices, and the differences between 3D Printing & Injection molding.

I didn't write a digest last week because things were quite boring in the world of 3D Printing.

How are things with you? Are you struggling to survive or enjoying life to the fullest? Would love to know what you are up to -- even if it has nothing to do with 3D Printing. Hit me up anytime.

Until next time,
Dilanka

3D Printing Gummy Candy

Karis Hustad - Chicago Inno

The world's first 3D printed gummy machine, created by Katjes Magic Candy Factory, made its US debut at Dylan's Candy Bar locations across the country, including Chicago, this week. Using a patented gummy material, custom 3D printing machines, and a tablet app, customers can create a custom shape or drawing and have it printed (and ready to eat) in under 10 minutes.

How to recycle and reuse filament

Filastruder

If you've ever 3D printed anything before, you should be familiar with the idea of being left with a LOT of failed prints. What the hell can you do if you have a box full of failed models? If throwing them at your annoying mother in law is not an option, you can use a tool called The Filastruder to recycle your failed prints back into filament, so you can re-use your filament over and over again!

Fully functional 3D Printed office in Dubai

Gizmag

A very large 3D Printer has literally 3D Printed a fully functional office in Dubai by extruding a cement mixture, layer by layer. This is pretty neat. Also, quite pretty.

How to choose between 3D Printing and Injection Molding

Sculpteo

If you have thought about the pros and cons of 3D printing vs. injection molding for prototyping etc, this is a pretty decent start.

Enterprise Sales for Hackers

Ryan Junee

"A champion is your ally within the target company. He or she will have have deep familiarity with the pain your product solves, and will hope that your product is the solution. When you give your pitch, you will find the champion nodding along and completing your sentences for you."

Trouble with Venture Capital Data

Charlie O'Donnell

"Sometimes, you have to pull back from the data and just think rationally.  If you don't think that it's harder to put more money to work in venture than less, in a world where companies do more with less, and great deals are scarce, than I don't know what color the sky is in your world."

How To Avoid Burnout

Ali Schultz

"As humans we fear many things that compromise our sense of safety, love and belonging. We also fear uncertainty — and startups are a sea of uncertainty. When it comes to fear and failure in our startup saturated lives, it's good to know what fears are at play for you."

Mastering Influencer Marketing

Adelyn Zhou

"Because influencer marketing tends to be centered around Instagram, Vine, Youtube and Pinterest, influencer marketing is most popular for e-commerce-based industries like fashion, beauty, products, and food, rather than finance, etc."
