3D Printing | December 02, 2016 | Hola!
Hope you are winding down the week with style.
I got a semi-cold can of Bud Light and a jar of unsalted peanuts at my desk as I write this -- so life ain't that bad here in San Diego.
I also just started reading Critical Path by Buckminster Fuller.
Interesting stuff.
Anyway...
In this week's digest, we'll be covering:
1.) Sacrifices of inventing 2.) 3D Printing cities 3.) Open source, 3D Printable wheels 4.) Octoprint on mobile 5.) Paypal's screw up 6.) Global 3D Printing Day 7.) Renting 3D Printers 8.) AUDI's boring video about innovation
Not too shabby, huh?
Hope you enjoy those.
Thanks to everyone who sent me emails (in the form of comments, resources or just to shoot the shit) last week.
See you next week, my friend! Dilanka | | Melissa Twigg - scmp.com Excellent read. | | Eva Xiao - techinasia.com Interesting story about a young entrepreneur who is interested in 3D Printing cities for the masses. Not sure about the practicality, but I love the idea and ambition. | | Audrey Robinel - https://hackaday.io If you are not familiar, OpenWheel provides parametric, open source wheels for your 3D Printing needs. They also let you download tank tracks and tires as well. These file(s) should come in handy for your DIY projects containing motion (like robots, toys etc.) Check them out. | | Printoid - printoid.com If you are an Octoprint user, you might find this to be helpful. | | Josef Prusa - twitter.com Josef Prusa, the creator of the popular Prusa i3 3D Printer has been locked out of his paypal funds because his sales were growing too fast and Paypal's algorithm's aren't sure if it's due to actual demand or fraud. It's a shame considering the fact that I've heard DOZENS of similar stories.
You'd think a multi billion dollar company would get their shit together already. | | Beau Jackson - 3dprintingindustry.com Honestly, I didn't even know this was a thing. So, allegedly a bunch of people are celebrating Global 3D Printing day on December 3rd, but I am still not sure what that actually entails. | | Three Di Go - threedigo.com I haven't heard of this company until now. Basically, you can RENT (almost) any type of 3D Printer for your projects. I am not sure if they have much of a competitive advantage considering the fact that companies like 3D HUBS already allows over a billion people with access to a 3D Printer. | | Audio - youtube.com Man, I found so many things wrong with this video. First, it's incredibly boring. Second, the guy (who claims to be a futurist) constantly screws up on facts (like citing Galileo instead of Copernicus). Third, the video is just SO LONG and drawn out. I am including it because 3D Printing is somewhat involved and for your own comic relief? | | | You are receiving this email because you believe that the best startup articles and videos are made by active members of the startup community.
