This follows a decision in the European Union, where member states are required to adhere to such an order. This change means that people will be prohibited from using 3D printing and other maker technologies to manufacture such objects, and that for a full century.
Do I think this would hold up? NOPE. Remember Napster? Napster for physical objects is inevitable and 3D Printing will be the vehicle. | | IDC - businesswire.com This is a recent update where IDC forecasts global revenues for the 3D printing market to reach $35.4 billion in 2020. This might set a precedent. | | Thomas Mead - newshub.co.nz University of Canterbury researchers recently started 3D Printing exact replicas of rare artifacts stored in their collection to allow classics students to handle the material during lessons.
This is pretty cool.
Also, a powerful learning experience, as students can actually touch and feel these rare artifacts without destroying the originals.
