Startup Digest

3D Printing

July 15, 2016

Hey you.

In this weeks digest, we cover:

1.) The difference between a $200K vs $2500 3D Printer
2.) 3D Printed Pokemon Meme(s)
3.) Restaurants using 3D Printing
4.) Hackers sabotaging industrial 3D Printers

That's it!

Did you watch any good movies or documentaries lately? Any recommendation(s)? Let me know.

Some great movies I've seen this month: Colonia, and 13 Hours.

Tomorrow I'll be at the Opening Day at Del Mar -- it's my first horseracing shindig. Probably going to loose my horse betting virginity as well.

Anyway, hope you are hanging in there!

See you in the future!

$200,000 vs $2500 3D Printer Comparison

Mike Skrzypczak - additivepartdesign.com

Ever wonder about the difference between a $200,000 vs. $2500 3D Printer? Well, here it is.

3D Printed Pokemon

Michael Brum - twitter.com

Have you heard about the Pokemon Go app that's been causing a ruckus online? If not, Pokemon Go is a mobile app by Nintendo that allows people to catch Pokemon's in real life using an Augmented Reality feature. It's so popular that it might actually surpass the Twitter app in the coming months. Nintendo's share price surged because of this success. Anyway -- this is particularly amusing: Folks have been 3D Printing Pokemon's and leaving them near actual Hotspot's where Pokemon Go players congregate. Funny.

Food.Ink: World's first 3D Printing Restaurant

Food.ink - foodink.io

Unsure how well this works, but: Food Ink is a pop-up gourmet restaurant that uses 3D Printing in their dining experience. It's still an interesting idea.

Hackers Sabotaging 3D Printers

Michael Kan - infoworld.com

Not sure if these are valid arguments or pure conjecture/hysteria - but it's a preamble about how 3D Printers could be potentially used by hackers for nefarious purposes -- namely, introducing defects into the manufacturing process. What do you think?
