Health | February 12, 2016 | Startup Highlight: 4Web Medical
Not so much a start-up at 8 years old, but I loved it when I heard about it this week. 4Web makes 3D printed truss systems that guide and encourage bone formation, "through structural mechanics rather than through the use of expensive biologics." It's always great to see companies using novel technologies to improve patient care/reduce costs.

Enter Jumpstart Foundry an "innovation" fund that wants to help developers solve the problems that companies from Walgreens to HCA ACTUALLY have. Read more here. PS - read more on the disconnect between tech and health care, here. | | IBM is doing a lot of really cool things in health care through Watson and beyond, it's latest foray into the field is radiology. Their new technology, "can identify anatomical features and abnormalities in medical images such as CT scans, and also draws on text and other data in a patient's medical record to suggest possible diagnoses and treatments." | | This piece explores the lack of an adequate rating system for mHealth. But at least studies like the Brigham's one shine light on the issue. | | This is the first big piece of news since Illumina announced the creation of "Grail". They just got Jeff Huber of Google fame to come on as CEO.
