Health Reading List | February 05, 2016 | Startup Highlight: Prima-Temp
1776, an Accelerator based in DC, had their regional "Challenge Cup" finals on Thursday in San Francisco, and Prima-Temp was one of the more interesting health care companies there. They have a product called Priya Ring that is a wireless connected, continuous body temperature sensor that takes internal body temperatures to tell the wearer when she is most fertile. Many companies have tried similar, generally more topical solutions that aren't as accurate. Fertility is just the start for this sensor company though!

Google is probably the poster child of this philosophy, and their next market: insurance. | | Likely more of an "in case you missed it," but Rock Health always comes out with great reports, this one is no different. Their indepth look at "digital" biomarkers is a must read. | | Some more details about Obama/Biden's cancer "moonshot" task force which is looking to throw at least $1B at the issue. | | I rant enough about the issue with wearables on actually helping patients, but a new study focused on heart patients is feeding into this thesis. It found, "that three-quarters of people with heart disease are finding value in activity trackers, but few are using them in the first place. " | | One physician lamenting the lack of real focus on OUTCOMES when physicians market themselves, despite access to that data. Pro Publica released a controversial "Surgeon Outcome" tracker, so who knows whether real outcome data is the right move. Interesting read. | | I love me some consulting reports.
