Coinbase Seed Round Pitch Deck

Brian Armstrong

"Great things start from humble beginnings. Most of what you see around you started as nothing more than a simple idea and a crude prototype. It'll take 5 to 10 years to turn it into an 'overnight success,' with dozens of setbacks and course corrections along the way. So pick something you're passionate about and get started."

Pitch the Immeasurable

Vanessa Hope Schneider

"I think it's really important to be realistic with yourself. If you're a straight-A, gunner type, you're going to want to get in the role and see immediate, seismic impact. But the truth of the matter is, it's rare that a new leader can make such sweeping change on behalf of an entire organization"

The Token Effect

Ramon Recuero

"A token is the basic economic unit in the ecosystem and should represent a scarce resource. Tokens are spent to use this resource and are earned by contributing to the network. For example, in Filecoin you earn tokens by lending your unused hard drive space. In summary, tokens coordinate efforts in the network and motivate responsible participation."

5 Key Factors to a Successful Pilot

Ryan Broshar

"Speaking of learning, measure as much as you can. If you don't, you're willingly ignoring the potential for new, maybe crucial insights about your business. In addition, share every valuable metric to enable your champions to sell internally."

Startup Digest - 3D Printing - DIY Editon - August 25th

Startup Digest

3D Printing

August 25, 2017

What's up, gangster?

How's life?

Chugging along? Good.

I've been researching the latest in the crypto coin world lately. I bought about $1200 worth of Litecoin (LTC) about 4 years ago and didn't touch it until now.

The initial investment grew a bit and after much research, I decided to sell all of it and exchange it for OmiseGo (OMG).

Based on my research, I am betting that OMG will become BIG in the coming years.

Is it speculation and much like Vegas? OF COURSE, but it's certainly interesting and fun.

Ah yes, also, the Mayweather vs. McGregor fight is tomorrow too (if you are into that) -- that's going to be very interesting as well.

The whole spectacle is a GREAT case study on great public relations and marketing as well.

Anyway...

As far as 3D Printing goes, it's a light day.

We'll be covering:

1.) 3D Printed robot hands helping deaf people
2.) New printers from Markforged
3.) 3D Printing related TED videos
4.) Some DIY projects

That's all.

Are you enjoying these digests?

Got any tips on improving it?

Perhaps you got a question?

If so, just hit reply and let me know.

I love hearing from you.

See ya next week!

Until next time, my friend,
Dilanka

[NEWS] - A 3D Printed Robotic Arm Built for SIgn Language

Devin Coldewey - techcrunch.com

This prototype is a bit bulky, but it's a damn good prototype. Ideally if this becomes a bit more polished, it would drastically reduce the need for interpreters.

This particular project was originally posted on 3DHubs, feel free to check it out

[NEWS] - Two new 3D printers that produce items as strong as steel

John Biggs - techcrunch.com

If you don't know yet, Markforged is one of my favorite printers EVER. This printer can print in kevlar, metal etc., and it certainly can print a functioning firearm.

They've been improving very rapidly over the past couple of years and here they are again with exciting products.

[VIDEO] - 9 Must See TED talks about 3D Printing

Hilmiyati Kusnadi - sculpteo.com

This is a solid list. If you haven't seen them, I recommend that you watch them. If you don't have time for the video, try using Listen To YouTube to convert these videos to audio and save them to your phone --- then simply listen to it at your convenience.

[DIY] - Build an inexpensive air purification system for your 3D Printer

Instructables - instructables.com

I've covered many stories about 3D Printers emitting toxic fumes. If you are on a budget, you can easily fix (or minimize) that problem with this DIY.

[DIY] - Designing & 3D Printing a Hamster Cage Door (~30 mins)

Lindy Design Lab - youtube.com

It's a bit long, but damn it's good for a DIY project.

[PRODUCT] - How does a DLP 3D Printer work?

Carlos Zotomayor - solidsmack.com

Just in case you didn't know the mechanics / technology of how a DLP printer works, this is a good guide.

[NEWS] - HP and Deloitte team up on 3D printing services for manufacturers

Dean Takahashi - venturebeat.com

HP has been fairly proactive about using 3D Printing technologies, with a heavy focus on industrial applications.

My guess is that they will eventually be forced into the consumer market as well.

Grab will invest the money over the next three years and work with local governments to expand ride-hailing to more cities and roll out services such as its in-app digital payment feature GrabPay, President Ming Maa said. It will grow its workforce in Myanmar about fivefold to 200, he added.

Peru is on a bid to catch up with its innovative Latin American neighbors

By Victoria Stunt (@vgstunt) - TechCrunch

Lima is a bustling capital city located on the Pacific Ocean. Its culinary scene is repeatedly rated as one of the best in the world. Furthermore, Lima's metropolitan area inhabits 10 million people, about one-third of the Peruvian population. It is the fifth largest metropolitan area in Latin America. However, while for the past decade the Peruvian economy has been one of the fastest moving in the region — it has an average growth rate of 5.9 percent — it's apparent Peru's technology ecosystem is still in its infancy. A country that's economically driven by mining, Peru invests just 0.08 percent of its GDP in innovation today.

The State Of Indian AgriTech 2017

By Inc42 Media

With more than half of India's population engaged in agriculture and by the virtue of India holding the second largest agricultural land in the world the sector has been one of the primary focus areas of all government. While significant advances were made in this sector during the Green Revolution in the 1950s & 60s, the same pace has not been followed in the subsequent years. This report explores the potential of AgriTech industry in India. With rapidly growing Internet penetration even in rural areas coupled with increasing private sector interest and entrepreneurial activity, this can drastically change the life of a lot of Indian farmers who have been left untouched by the benefits of technology. The opportunity is massive, almost over $200 Bn and, with technology and fresh thinking, private enterprise along with government support can turn around the fate of millions of Indian farmers.

The Future Of Mobile Advertising In India Is All Video: Investment Up By 119%, Consumption 124%

By Rishabh Borde - DazeInfo

Digital advertising has been around since the very early days of the internet. It is – and has always been – one of the most popular monetization models in the digital world. As of today, it forms the core business model of many digital ventures, including news, entertainment, media and much more. India is the second biggest smartphone market in Asia-Pacific. By 2019, smartphone penetration is expected to reach 39%, driven by improvement in 4G networks, access to affordable 4G smartphones and mobile internet bundle prices. With Indians spending an average of 2.5 hours a day on their smartphones, video is quickly becoming the preferred medium of content consumption. This, in turn, is driving an increase in advertising spends on video to match its growing demand. InMobi analyzed a half-years' worth of data to bring to you the most powerful insights on how marketers are leveraging Video as part of their mobile advertising strategy.

How to Incorporate Your Company

Tyler Tate

"When it comes to choosing an entity type for your company, 99% of U.S.-based startups should opt for a C-Corporation. The only exception to the rule is if you don't plan to ever raise money from outside investors and don't aspire to ever IPO, in which case the simpler LLC could still be an option."

What Do Boards Actually Do?

Mark Suster

"Between board meetings we do calls to discuss performance or major initiatives. Often we are asked to get involved in executive-level recruiting. And of course we help with business development introductions and with fund raising events."

No Investors Are Going to be Looking for AI Startups

Frank Chen

"I'm looking forward to the day when AI is powering all the software we write by default. And also looking forward to hearing what the shiny new thing will be then."

The Ultimate Cheat Sheet for a Winning Demo Day/ Competition Pitch

Donna Griffit

" It's so frustrating for me to see a great pitch that ends with "Um, Well, that's it. Thank you!" Really? That's the best you can do? Close off the story you began with, end with an inspiring quote, lead them to the bigger vision for the company — something that leaves them as excited as they were when you started."
