3D Printing

March 11, 2016

Holy shit.

So many 3D Printing related Festivals/Conferences coming up.

SXSW in Austin has a (FREE) section called SXCreate filled with DIY and 3D Printing geeks. I ran a booth here last year and it was super fun. This event is happening right now! (March 11-13).

I'll be at the (FREE) Rep Rap Festival in Goshen, Indiana next week breaking bread with a fun bunch of 3D Printing geeks. (March 18-20). If you are in the area, try to stop by. It's a supercharged, concentrated mix of DIY and 3D Printing wisdom, so it would be very beneficial.

There's also Inside3DPrinting in New York (April 10-12) and Maker Faire in San Mateo (May 20-22). The former is more for professionals and the latter is a EXCELLENT event to go to as a family.

Did I miss any? What other 3D Printing related events are there? Let me know.

Finally, Mattel (You know -- the Multinational Toy Company) is releasing a 3D Printer aimed at kids (which is a HUGE indicator for consumer 3D Printing). This is a rare occasion because this is the first time a company of this size (and a toymaker at that!) is taking a stab at releasing a 3D Printer for children!

By the way -- All I do is 3D Print, so if you have any newbie questions related to 3D Printing, feel free to hit me up anytime and I'd love to answer them.

Until next time my friends,
Dilanka

[Video] The Upcoming Thingmaker 3D Printer

Ever heard of Mattel? You know, the multinational toy manufacturer? They unveiled a 3D Printer aimed at children at the Toy Faire in New York. You can already pre-order this printer on Amazon and it will be released in October 2016. Ladies and Gentleman, this is HUGE step for consumer adoption of 3D Printing.

[Video] How fast can physical objects travel?

Here's a fun print I did yesterday. 3DKitBash (who is a badass toy designer that releases free 3D Printable stuff) released this design at 10:30 AM and by 2:30 PM, I had an exact replica of that design halfway around the world. Isn't that incredible?
