Canon's New Camera Sees More In the Dark Than You Ever Thought Possible

GIZMODO

"The 'multi-purpose' camera, dubbed only MH20F-SH, has a full-frame sensor with 2.26 megapixels. The reason for the meager resolution is because each pixel is very large—19 microns to be exact. That's 7.5x larger than, say, the pixels found on a flagship DSLR like the Canon 1Dx. Huge pixels mean they can capture a huge amount of light."

What Makes Founders Succeed

Jessica Livingston

"Starting a startup is a process of trial and error. What guided the founders through this process was their empathy for the users. They never lost sight of making things that people would want."

In Praise of Unfairness

Benedict Evans

"In case it isn't obvious by now, these charts are meant to be unfair - that's the point. Unfair but relevant comparisons are the most interesting and important kinds. An unfair comparison generally means an unfair advantage, and this isn't the Olympics - unfair is good."

Everyone is excited about the potential of CRISPR, but in many ways we are still very naive to the possibilities that CRISPR has unlocked. Wouldn't it be great if we could some how simulate the outcomes of changes made to genes before we made those edits using CRISPR? Enter "Deep Genomics". In short the recent spin-off from the University of Toronto is creating, "a deep learning system that's able to digest a massive amount of genetic data has the potential to understand the impact of genetic mutations better than humans ever have."
